Whereas Transportation remains an issue on the UTA campus for students, faculty, and staff; and
Whereas There are a limited number of buses and few that can lift large wheelchairs; and
Whereas Many of the wheelchairs that students are using will not fit onto the ramps of the shuttles; and
Whereas Students with disabilities, especially students that are blind or utilize wheelchairs, are afraid and not able to safely cross UTA Blvd.,
Be It Further Resolved That UTA invest in more buses to provide for a safer and friendly campus to all students.
Be It Further Resolved That All new shuttle buses be universal design and be capable of lifting wheelchairs of all shapes and sizes allowing easy access into shuttle buses.
Be It Further Resolved That That an increased period of time be allowed elaspe between new purchases, so as to cover the increase costs.
