Remarks
Whereas Texas is behind other prominent states in availability of Tier One research universities to its residents; and
Whereas California has nine Tier One institutions, New York has seven Tier One institutions, and Texas has only three Tier One institutions; and
Whereas the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex, having six million people, is by far the largest metropolitan area in the United States without a Tier One research institution; and
Whereas the availability of Tier One research institutions is vital for an area in terms of training a quality workforce, developing strong industry, attracting brilliant minds and top entrepeneurs, providing top educational opportunities for its residents.
Be It Further Resolved That the UT Arlington Student Congress strongly supports efforts by the Texas Legislature to encourage the development of additional Tier One research institutions in Texas.
Be It Further Resolved That the UT Arlington Student Congress strongly supports the vision of UT Arlington quickly becoming a Tier One research institution.
