Whereas Students, faculty, and staff members alike from a very diverse group of cultures struggle everyday to find a place to meditate, reflect, and pray in a private and secluded space. This predicament makes the students lose concentration in school and lose structure in their lives, especially if they are forced to go back and forth from campus to their homes in order to properly meditate.
Whereas People who with no other choice are forced to meditate on campus in areas like dirty stairwells, behind bookcases or outside under the sun. Unfortunately, these people constantly get criticized and have to deal with racist comments from others who feel they should meditate in a private setting, rather than a public one. So, why can't the UTA patrons have a secluded room in which all parties can be pleased?
Be It Further Resolved That The University of Texas at Arlington can provide such an important room to its student body, faculty, and staff members alike as other universities have demonstrated so well. The implementation of such a room will be a beneficial asset to all parties and will immensely help with student retention.
Be It Further Resolved That A large portion of the student body, faculty, and staff members alike can finally have their wishes come true of a space established to be used for meditation, reflection, and prayer. This space will remain open to anyone seeking its benefits and will not be affiliated with any one's race or religion.
