Remarks FAILED - System is already in place and is broad enough to cover all of this.
Whereas Students who tend toward actions of a reckless nature tend to be less than stellar in their academics; and
Whereas The victims of such reckless or hazardous actions on the part of other students are at risk for further financial, emotional, or physical loss due to the likelihood of repeat offence by negligent students; and
Whereas Students who engage in reckless acts seldom change their habits in response to a Police citation or non-intrusive investigation.
Be It Further Resolved That Students who commit misdemeanor acts on the campus of the University of Texas at Arlington in their vehicles or in their persons, specifically acts of recklessness or intent constituting a Class B or higher misdemeanor offense, be recommended for a university probation not of an educational nature, pending further investigation into the nature of the incident; or where applicable, until it can be determined whether such acts are likely to reoccur; and
Be It Further Resolved That A probation system be researched and instituted which would allow the University of Texas at Arlington to place students on a misdemeanor-related probation which, if revoked, may result in permanent expulsion from this University; and
Be It Further Resolved That The University of Texas at Arlington research ways to assist the Police Department of the University of Texas at Arlington with funding in such a way as to facilitate the more efficient pursuit and investigation of reckless and hazardous actions by the students of The University of Texas at Arlington.
