Remarks NOT IMPLEMENTED - The mall areas and walkways are constructed for pedestrian use. If bike lanes were to be installed, it would cause problems, such as single-file bike lanes, and safety issues. Because of this, university administration have chosen not to implement this.
Whereas During peak hours, UT Arlington's walkways are crowded.
Whereas Some students on bicycles must weave in and out of large groups of people to get to their destination.
Whereas A separate pathway would be safer for both cyclists and pedestrians.
Be It Further Resolved That Bicycle lanes be installed on the walkway from Arlington Hall to Cooper Street and on the walkway from University Hall to the Engineering Research Building to create a safer environment for both cyclists and pedestrians during peak hours.
