Whereas The University of Texas at Arlington's Office of Graduate Studies requires students to pay a $40 to apply for graduation and receive a diploma, or $100 including a late-fee.
Whereas The Office of Graduate Studies states: "Graduation fees are non-refundable and non-transferable. Therefore, before submitting the Application for Graduation, students should verify that they will meet graduation requirements."
Whereas This does not take into account unexpected life events, personal crises, and other situations that alter collegiate involvement.
Whereas Students in distressing financial situations may find relief in knowing they can retrieve the money they spent on a graduation fee, or use it for an alternative graduation date.
Be It Further Resolved That The Office of Graduate Studies amend their policy and amend the debt incurred by students for their graduation fee to be refunded in full, or transferred as payment toward an alternative graduation date.
