Whereas UTA students, like students at most every other major university are often concerned about the parking options available to them; and
Whereas UTA students, as typical college students, are also concerned about the fees they are charged and their seemingly ever-present lack of money; and
Whereas A solution, in part, to both of these concerns has been proposed and undertaken in the past; and
Whereas It is unclear, both on SAM and in the parking regulations, if this solution, remote parking (parking in lot #26 at the stadium), is still an option and why a student might want to choose remote parking; and
Whereas In the past, at the recommendation of Student Congress and the President's Office, the cost of remote parking was reduced to one-half of the student 'A' parking rate (see Student Congress resolution 92-09 results).
Be It Further Resolved That Remote parking, if it is not currently in place, is reinstated as a parking option for students; and
Be It Further Resolved That Remote parking hangtags are sold at one-half of the cost of regular 'A' student hang tags; and
Be It Further Resolved That The reduced cost and availability of the shuttle bus from the remote parking lot to the core of campus and other locations be advertised, especially on the SAM website where many students purchase their hang tag for each year; and
Be It Further Resolved That The benefits of remote parking be advertised via any other means deemed worthwhile by the parking office.
