Remarks | Committee felt that Orientation office has already implemented a lot of the things we asked them to so there is no point in pursuing this resolution anymore. The committee also decided to get feedback from International office even though the resolution is killed |
Whereas | UTA has a high population of international students; and |
Whereas | Many international students have only one-day orientation at Swift Center which doesn't include an involvement fair; and |
Whereas | Many of these international students miss out on the first year college experience because they aren't exposed to different programs and organizations during their orientation; and |
Whereas | This causes them to miss out on being involved in programs such as FLOC and FIG etc. |
Be It Further Resolved That | Incoming International freshmen, who arrive on a date when a freshman orientation is still available to attend, should be allowed to attend the involvement fair and small group sessions in order to provide to them the same experience within involvement and engagement that other freshmen receive. |
