Whereas Advising is a pivotal part of any student's college experience and plays a large role in planning the academic schedule necessary to graduate on time; and
Whereas While attending an advising session in any discipline there is very seldom anything outside of a paper form that keeps track of your academic plan; and
Whereas Although a helpful guide, the form is the only recording of the necessary classes to take, current schedule situation, and record of course requirements already completed; and
Whereas The advisor does not always retain a copy of the form on file for the individual student and if the paper form becomes lost at any time, then the student no longer has an accessible record of their academic plan to ensure their classes were recorded correctly or to plan their future semesters.
Be It Further Resolved That The University of Texas at Arlington seek the means to implement a digital online centralized advising system, similar to DegreeWorks, including a digital form and copy of a student's academic plan through the Advising Departments to ensure that it is always accessible by the student and advisor.
