| Whereas | The University of Texas at Arlington attracts students from not only around the nation, but also from around the world; and |
| Whereas | Many students have to travel great distances to see their family; and |
| Whereas | The University of Texas at Arlington currently holds classes the day before Thanksgiving, prohibiting students from using that day to travel without penalty. |
| Be It Further Resolved That | The University of Texas at Arlington begin classes on the Wednesday of the first week of school and not hold classes the day before Thanksgiving. |
