| Whereas | Student Safety is important to the University of Texas at Arlington; and |
| Whereas | Many students live on either side of the Center Street, or use it extensively to go to the College Park garages; and |
| Whereas | The curve in Center street blocks the line of sight for students who use this street for many purposes; and |
| Whereas | Many times the right lane on Center Street is also blocked by DART bus or cones put by PATS (Parking and Transportation Services) for the purposes of events; and |
| Whereas | This causes more cars to travel in the middle or the left lane at a high speed, which creates dangerous circumstances for students who use the Center street for residential or parking purposes. |
| Be It Further Resolved That | The University of Texas at Arlington works with the City of Arlington officials to reduce the speed limit of Center street by the Dan Dipert Welcome Center to an appropriate amount. |
