Remarks The Student Senate voted majority in favor of 17-08 as the Senate reasoned that having information available to international students, whether at orientation or not, and on the OIE’s website would be overall beneficial to them.
Whereas Many domestic students has some form of identification such as a state ID, driver's license, etc; and
Whereas Apart from passports, international students have a Mav IDs as identification, which cannot be used as an actual identification card; and
Whereas This causes a lot of inconvenience to international students who have to carry their passports everywhere they are required to present identification; and
Whereas Even though international students can obtain a state ID, most students do not have sufficient information regarding the processes of obtaining one.
Be It Further Resolved That The Office of International Education provide proper information regarding obtaining a state ID on their website.
Be It Further Resolved That The Office of International Education look into finding ways to market this information to international students, whether it be at orientation or through other means.
