Remarks The Student Senate felt that by pushing for the allowance of nursing students to wear navy scrub jackets as student nurses would not be mistaken for doctors when wearing the white lab coat while on clinical. The resolution already has support from the administers of CONHI, and we plan to ensure that this policy is changed.
Whereas The College of Nursing and Health Innovation upholds a dress code that many hospitals follow, which teaches nursing students the proper dress for their job; and
Whereas Nursing students are allowed to wear lab coats and undershirts when they are cold as detailed in the dress code; and
Whereas Nursing students who wear lab coats are often mistaken for doctors when working their clinical; and
Whereas Many hospitals allow their nurses to wear scrub jackets.
Be It Further Resolved That The University of Texas at Arlington College of Nursing and Health Innovation change their dress code policy to allow nursing students to wear navy blue scrub jackets as part of their uniform.
