Whereas The Texas Department of Transportation makes special 'Collegiate' license plates available to automobile owners in Texas that serve a several purposes, including showing school pride, developing awareness and also raising money for scholarships; and
Whereas UTA participates in this program; and
Whereas The current UTA license plate uses an old logo that the University has not used in over five years on an almost Longhorn-orange background; and
Whereas As the University continues to grow and become a more 'traditional' school, we must avail ourselves of every opportunity to build school spirit and encourage alumni to maintain ties with the University; and
Whereas The current design of the UTA specialty license plate does not do this.
Be It Further Resolved That The University contact the Texas Department of Transportation and endeavor, with the DOT, to update UTA's license plate design; and
Be It Further Resolved That If possible, UTA hold a design competition open to all UTA students, faculty, staff and alumni to decide the design of the new license plate.
