Remarks UTA is currently updating it's system from IPv4 to IPv6. It takes some time, so it might take a year or more to transition fully. The Special affairs committee did not feel this resolution needed more research, nor any further action as UTA OIT is currently trying to make this happen.
Whereas The current network is on the IPv4 protocol; and
Whereas IPv4 fragments packets which reduces the performance of the network; and
Whereas There is a large amount of students using the network with multiple devices connected at the same time; and
Whereas The federal government as well as many local governments have updated the infrastructure of their networks to support IPv6 connectivity.
Be It Further Resolved That The university look into ways of updating the current network to support IPv6.
