Whereas The University of Texas at Arlington strives for every student to be aware of and have access to every resource available to them on campus throughout their college careers; and
Whereas Many resources related to alcohol and substance abuse awareness are explained at each student's New Maverick Orientation; and
Whereas Students are not provided comprehensive information about campus resources like Counseling and Psychological Services; and
Whereas New Maverick Orientation is already completely filled with information that can at times inundate students in attendance; and
Whereas Student wellness, especially mental health wellness, is a pillar of the Maverick Way, and therefore of primary importance to the University; and
Whereas Each student has the opportunity to complete a "Campus Climate" module that covers important topics like these among college students.
Be It Further Resolved That The University of Texas at Arlington introduce the idea of a lengthy CAPS module with specific focus on suicide prevention, for students to complete after orientation as part of, or in addition to, the Campus Climate module.
