Whereas | Many students at the University of Texas at Arlington are unaware of Student Congress, its purpose, and its activities; and |
Whereas | Those who are aware of its existence are often unaware of what Student Congress is doing to benefit the University; and |
Whereas | One of the major goals identified by Student Congress for the 2003-2004 academic year is to increase overall awareness of and participation in Student Congress activities; and |
Whereas | The Student Congress bulletin board in the University Center is not the most effective means of disseminating relevant information to the student body, because people must make a conscious effort to stop and read things posted on it; and |
Whereas | The Shorthorn is read by a much larger number of students, on a more consistent basis, than the bulletin board. |
Be It Further Resolved That | Student Congress publish a regular column in The Shorthorn highlighting agendas for upcoming meetings, meeting schedules, synopses of resolutions currently under consideration, and other pertinent information. |
