Description This resolution asks that Student Government hold a referendum in the upcoming campus elections to ask students if The University of Texas at Arlington should raise the Intercollegiate Athletics Fee by upwards of $500 a year to establish a NCAA Division I Collegiate Football Program.

Remarks
Whereas The University of Texas at Arlington does not currently have a NCAA Division I Collegiate Football Program on campus; and
Whereas According to a Gallup poll that has been conducted from 1937 to 2017, American Football is the most popular sport in the United States and is one of the biggest attractions to any college campus. American football programs offer entertainment, engagement, and pride on a college campus; and
Whereas The University of Texas at Arlington currently has around 45,000 students enrolled as of Fall 2022 and ranks in the top 50 universities in the country by enrollment size according to U.S. News & World Report. The University of Texas at Arlington is one of the only universities of its size in the nation without an American Football Program; and
Whereas In order to establish a Football Program at the University, an increase in student contribution is necessary to finance the construction of facilities and amenities, as well as the wages of coaches, staff, and the scholarships of future student-athletes; and
Be It Further Resolved That Student Government hold a referendum in the upcoming campus elections to ask students if The University of Texas at Arlington should raise the Intercollegiate Athletics Fee by upwards of $500 a year to establish a NCAA Division I Collegiate Football Program.
