Remarks
Whereas UTA students who are pursuing an honors degree through the Honors College receive the benefit of early registration if they earn three registration reward points each semester. These registration rewards are earned by attending designated honors events;
Whereas This early registration period is reserved for continuing graduate students, graduating seniors, Honors College, McNair Scholars, and athletes, and is often mentioned as a benefit of joining the honors college;
Whereas Many times, final instructor assignments or course sections are not announced by this early registration deadline. This can prevent honors students from being able to register for all courses or cause them to change their schedules at a later date when these are announced. This defeats the purpose of priority registration. This is an especially big problem for STEM majors since classes often fill up only a couple of days after general admission opens.
Be It Further Resolved That All instructor assignments and course sections be finalized by the priority enrollment period so that students in the Honors College and others receiving priority enrollment would be able to take full advantage of it.
