Remarks
Whereas The University Housing office announced a revised housing policy relating to on-campus priority housing assignments in the four residence halls on campus (West Hall, Vandergriff Hall, Arlington Hall, and Kalpana Chawla Hall) on September 28th, 2023, giving “First-time-in-college” students (FTIC) priority housing consideration when applying for housing space for the upcoming 2024-2025 academic year and;
Whereas Current residents received notice about this policy revision one business day before applications for residence halls and apartments opened for the 2024-25 academic year, and as such, not enough time was given to current residents to be adequately prepared for future housing plans and;
Whereas A large portion of UTA’s student body consists of international and out-of-state students who will be most affected by this new policy and;
Be It Further Resolved That Equal priority be given to both returning and FTIC students to accommodate both the already existing student population of returning residential students as well as FTIC students.
