Whereas The University of Texas at Arlington is known to be a commuter campus, according to U.S. News, around 90% of students travel from outside of campus to attend classes, making the possibility for vehicle issues to occur. Thousands of students at UTA with permits pay up to $1,304.00 a year for access to parking on campus.
Whereas Students at The University of Texas at Arlington experiencing locksmith issues are stranded on campus making them miss class, work, or other obligations. Which impacts their education and financial stability.
Whereas Locksmith services are very costly both monetarily and timely. The average services for car lockouts range from $70-$150 and those affected can wait anywhere from 2-5 hours.
Whereas UTA has an onsite police force, that does not have the necessary tools to help students and faculty locked out of their vehicles.
Be It Further Resolved That UTA police should have the proper equipment to assist students if they get locked out of their vehicles. To ensure that those on campus have access to timely assistance at no cost.
