Remarks
Whereas Approximately 10,000 students reside either on campus or in the vicinity of the University of Texas at Arlington (UTA), necessitating reliable transportation services to attend their classes; and
Whereas UTA currently offers the Mav Mover services, which are thoughtfully divided into various routes to accommodate students living in diverse directions from UTA, thereby facilitating their commute; and
Whereas the current operational hours of the Mav Mover services are limited, with most routes ceasing at 6 pm, which does not cater to the needs of students with classes extending into the evening; and
Whereas a significant portion of the student population does not have access to personal vehicles, rendering them heavily reliant on the Mav Mover services for their transportation needs;
Whereas alternative transportation options such as Uber and Zipcar impose a financial burden on students due to their high costs;
Be It Further Resolved That The University of Texas at Arlington increase the operational hours of all Mav Mover routes to better accommodate the schedules of students attending evening classes; and
Be It Further Resolved That The operational hours for the Red route and green route be extended until 11 pm, to ensure students attending the latest classes have a reliable means of transportation; and
Be It Further Resolved That The university expands the Mav Mover service routes to include additional stops at nearby international food stores, such as Fiesta, and to extend service to these stores and Walmart weekends.
