Remarks PENDING - Memo from President Spaniolo dated September 21, 2004 said "We will consider waitlist functionality after phase one of the new student information system implementation (approx. 18-24 months)"
Whereas Registration can cause stress and problems to undergraduate students as classes fill up quickly; and
Whereas Sometimes it is extremely difficult to sign up for high-demand undergraduate courses, some of which are required in our curriculum; and
Whereas It is a hassle to check back and forth all day to see if someone has dropped a course in order to sign up for it; and
Whereas It will be easier to create a new waitlist option under which students signing up for undergraduate courses have the option to join a waitlist where students are automatically added to a course when space becomes available; and
Whereas The University of Texas at Austin is currently taking this approach to solve their registration problems for the Spring of 2004.
Be It Further Resolved That There be instituted a waitlist option for undergraduate courses; and
Be It Further Resolved That The list be used to gauge the number of sections needed for a given course.
