UTA Students Attend Day at the Capitol

Wednesday, Mar 29, 2023

On March 22, 2023, UTA students represented their different college units in a full-day trip to the Texas Capitol in Austin. Over 70 UTA students, faculty and staff, attended the 88th Texas Legislative Session. Victoria Kiker, Jessie Hitchcock and Alyssa Knox represented CAPPA during this event. This is the second time UTA has participated in legislative discussions at the Texas State Capitol and advocated for future policies and opportunities with the senator and legislators.

Thanks to UTA alumni relations, students were selected as ambassadors for the university on a full-day excursion. This was a valuable experience for students and the met with legislators and advocated for the future of a higher education. They discussed vital issues such as funding, scholarships, infrastructure, and supporting the growth of the university, gaining insight on these issues and the professional process involved in finding solutions for our communities.

Everyone who attended had a productive day in the Capitol and returned with a memorable experience and lots of stories to tell.
