A major milestone in architectural culture is marked with the publication of An Architecture of Representation: Essays and Drawings Across 50 Years of the Ken Roberts Memorial Delineation Competition. The book commemorates the 50th anniversary of the internationally respected competition now known as KRob.

Edited by Joshua M. Nason, former Associate Professor in the College of Architecture, Planning, and Public Affairs (CAPPA) and current Professor of Architecture and Dean of the Hammons School of Architecture at Drury University. The volume also features editorial contributions from Madalyn A. Melton and Ricardo A. Leon.

Bringing together 42 original essays and a rich collection of award-winning drawings spanning five decades, the publication offers a rare and reflective examination of architectural representation and its evolving role within the discipline. Through historical accounts, critical perspectives, and thoughtful explorations of media, methods, and meaning, An Architecture of Representation situates drawing and making at the core of architectural practice.

The essays trace the history of the competition and highlight the individuals who have shaped its legacy, affirming representation not only as a technical skill but as a creative act and cultural force. Together, the contributions celebrate KRob as a vital annual forum for talent, ideas, and architectural experimentation - one that continues to influence how architecture is imagined, communicated, and understood.

The publication prominently features contributions from CAPPA’s School of Architecture, including faculty, students, alumni, and former instructors, underscoring the school’s long-standing engagement with and leadership in architectural representation.
