Department faculty members honored by TSHA

Two faculty members of the UTA Department of History were singled out for honors at this past weekend's annual meeting of the Texas State Historical Association.

Dr. Sam Haynes, Professor of History and Director of the UTA Center for Greater Southwestern Studies was elected a TSHA Fellow by the Society's Board of Directors. The status of "Fellow of the Association," limited to no more than three individuals per year, is intended to honor Society members who have "demonstrated through distinguished public work, or other exemplary scholarly activity, a special aptitude for historical investigation relating to the state of Texas."

Dr. Bradley Folsom, one of the Department's outstanding adjunct faculty lectures was named the recipient of the H. Bailey Carroll Award for the Best Article in the Southwestern Historical Quarterly for his essay, "An Interesting and Odd Present: Transporting Bison Across the Atlantic in the Eighteenth Century" (Vol. CXX, No. 1, July 2016).
