Introducing the New Mavericks with Disabilities Association (MWD)
This is a new advocacy and social group meeting every other Monday.

You don't have to have a disability to join, it's open to all majors and the main points of contact are [myself – Jocelyn Gaucin] at jocelyn.gaucin@mavs.uta.edu and Billy Truong at billy.truong@mavs.uta.edu.” Next meeting is Monday, Nov. 9th 12-1pm
LEARN ALL ABOUT THE NEW JD-MBA DUAL DEGREE AT TEXAS A&M LAW THROUGH UTA
We sat down with the coordinators for the newly minted JD/MBA program with UTA and Texas A&M Law to get answers just for you. Here’s what they had to say…
Q: What is a dual JD/MBA and why would a student want to get it?
A: It’s a chance to knock out an MBA while going to law school. And UTA’s program is versatile, low cost, adds no time to your overall degree path and is conveniently located right across the street from the TAMU Law campus. If you see yourself possibly wanting to work in corporate law or maybe even some day owning your own law practice, getting a dual JD/MBA degree is a great way to jumpstart your career.
Q: Does it add a lot of time to my law school path?
A: The UTA-TAMU program is special in that you will take the same 3 years to complete. Meaning no extra time at all! Finish law school and MBA in 3 years!
Q: Are there special pathways for UTA students to enroll in the program?
A: UTA students can bypass having to take the GMAT and GRE if they have a 3.0 or better in the last 60 hours of study no matter what the undergraduate program of study is. They also don’t have to go through ApplyTexas to apply but can apply with a simple 1-page application directly with COBA and follow facilitated enrollment procedure.
Q: What is the UTA-TAMU Law JD/MBA Program like?
A: You will begin your 1L year (first year of law school) then complete the 7 required MBA courses in your second year in the fall (3), spring (3) and summer (1), then return to the law school to complete your final 3L year. Simple as that!
Q: What about cost? This has to add a considerable cost to my education, right?
A: Wrong. The complete MBA will cost approximately $12,700. There are also merit and need-based scholarships available to help defray the cost available through MavScholarshop.
For more information about the program, go to: https://fortworth.uta.edu/academics/graduate/mbajointdegree/ or email your Pre-Law advisor, Amber White, with specific questions you may have.
