Happy New Year!!

Welcome back, UTA Pre-Law Students!!  As we move into the second half of this school year, we hope that you carve out time to enjoy the programming and events that are happening in the Pre-Law Center and in the Pre-Law student orgs!  We also want to give a special shoutout to Model United Nations that has now returned as a student org under the Pre-Law umbrella.  Welcome back you all!!  Details for how to join are below.

  • Volunteers Needed for Virtual Mock Trial Competition

    The UTA Pre-Law Center will once again be hosting the American Mock Trial Association Regional Mock Trial Association Regional Mock Trial Tournament.  This year will be virtual and we are in need of students to assist with serving as “bailiffs” and supporting the tournament director to run the competition and assign teams to virtual courtrooms.

    The competition will take place Feb. 26-27th online via Zoom.

  • Law: Live in Color Virtual Black History Month Event

    Succeeding in Law & The Roadmap to Law School

    Tuesday, Feb. 1, 2022, 5pm – 6pm

    Hear from four experienced legal professionals about their work finding pathways to justice for their clients and how they succeeded in law school.  Featured speakers include Criminal Defense Attorney Marquetta Clayton, In-House Counsel Nikki Chriesman-Green, District Attorney Candidate Albert John Roberts and Attorney Ron D. Harris. This virtual roundtable will be moderated and co-sponsored by Pre-Law chapter of the National Black Law Students Association and UTA chapter of the NAACP.

  • Spring 2022 LSAC Forum & Important Dates

    LSAC’s Still Primarily Virtual for Spring 2022

    For the 2021-2022 Admissions cycle, LSAC will host most of its Forums digitally so that any and all students can have access to critical resources and information.

    Why attend? 

    This is the nation’s largest law school fair and ALL law schools will be participating!  This is your opportunity to hear from admissions and recruiters at your dream schools.  LSAC will host a workshop for students preparing to take the LSAT where you will have the opportunity to hear directly from the test writers on how to excel on various aspects of the test.  You’ll also have the chance to participate in personal statement workshops and much more!

    Women in Law is meeting and looking for new members!  This organization is open to all majors and seeks to provide resources to advance women’s interest in the legal world. Students can look forward to bi-monthly meetings, socials, the WIL Speaker Series (all virtual for fall semester), and next semester a Spring Brunch and Women’s Retreat currently in the works!

    Prospective New Black Pre-Law Students Association

    For over fifty years, the National Black Law Students Association has worked to develop culturally responsible Black and minority law students that excel academically, succeed professionally, and positively impact the community. NBLSA members are activists, thought leaders, and strategic thinkers. NBLSA alumni are partners, general counsel, judges, non-profit executives, and business operatives. Students are seeking to create a UTA Pre-Law Chapter of NBLSA.

    General Body Meetings will be held on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of every month 3:30 – 4:30 P.M.         Meetings will be in person (with masks) and a hybrid option will be offered as well for those who cannot attend in person.
