BSW and MSW Licensure Statement

Exploring Social Work Licensure Requirements

Graduates from our Council on Social Work Education’s (CSWE) Accredited BSW and MSW programs are eligible to apply for social work licensure in U.S. states/territories and Canadian provinces that license social work professionals at the bachelor's and master’s levels.

Our curriculum, through its compliance with the Council on Social Work Education’s (CSWE) Educational Policy and Accreditation Standards (EPAS), encompasses the content areas included in the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB) Bachelor’s and Master’s licensure examinations. These examinations are accepted in U.S. states, territories, and Canadian provinces that offer bachelor’s- and/or master’s-level social work licensure.

Licensure requirements, eligibility criteria, examination requirements, application procedures, and other regulatory standards are established by individual jurisdictions and may be modified at any time without notice. While we make reasonable efforts to provide accurate and current information, the information presented in this table is provided for general informational purposes only and should not be relied upon as a definitive statement of current licensure requirements. The University does not warrant or guarantee the accuracy, completeness, timeliness, or continued validity of the information provided and assumes no responsibility or liability for errors, omissions, or subsequent changes in licensure requirements.

Prospective and current students are solely responsible for verifying all licensure requirements directly with the applicable licensing board, regulatory agency, or governmental authority in the jurisdiction where they intend to seek licensure. Before making educational, employment, relocation, or licensure decisions, students should consult the official licensing authority for the most current and authoritative information.
