A Hot Work Permit is required on any UTA property for any operations involving open flames or that produces heat and/or sparks. The permit must be completed by the Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S) Office and posted at the site. Hot Work includes, but is not limited to: brazing, torch cutting, grinding, soldering, and welding. With the exception of Emergencies, all Hot Work Permit requests must be submitted a minimum of one (1) business day prior to the planned work. See Hot Work Permit Guidelines for more information.

An impairment exists when a fire protection equipment device (e.g., automatic sprinkler system, fixed extinguishing system, automatic fire alarm system, or fire pump) is taken out of service partially or completely. Prior to an impairment, submit a request below with specific details about the impairment and safety precautions. For questions, contact EH&S at 817-272-2185

Due to the potential for personal injury and property damage, a grill permit must be requested and approved prior to grilling activities at UTA campuses using electric, propane, or charcoal/wood-fired grills. For questions about Grill Permits, contact EH&S at ehsafety@uta.edu

Fire Pit permit must be submitted at least 10 business days prior to the event. To minimize the risk of fire, personnel injury and property damage, a permit must be requested and approved to use Outdoor Fire Pit at UTA. See EH&S Fire Pit Guidelines & Instructions for additional information.

Pyrotechnic use, both indoors and outdoors must be permitted by the City of Arlington and through the UTA Environmental Health & Safety office. Pyrotechnics Permit must be submitted at least 5 days prior to the event along with the approved City of Arlington Pyrotechnics Permit. Access to campus building roofs is restricted to Authorized Personnel only per CO-CS-PR-16: Building Roof Access Procedure. Individuals other that Authorized personnel must submit request for access no less than five (5) working days prior to the date access is needed.
