Homecoming Shoe Drive for America Recycles Day

The UTA Office of Sustainability ran a shoe drive supporting Soles4Souls, in collaboration with Intercollegiate Athletics and Campus Recreation as part Homecoming on November 15, 2025, which is also America Recycles Day! 

Gently used or new shoes can be brought to Homecoming Events on November 14 & 15:

  • November 14: Homecoming Women's Basketball Game
  • November 15: MAC 5K Run
  • November 15: Homecoming Men's Basketball Game

From November 3 - 21, there will also be collection boxes located at:

  • Maverick Activities Center (near entrance)
  • UC (near Starbucks)

 

 

Results:

UTA diverted 91.25 pounds from landfills, extending the lifespan of these items and reducing their CO2 impact. It also generated $660.65 in economic opportunities for families and communities worldwide through Soles4Souls' 4Opportunity and 4Relief programs, helping families access essentials and education.

This donation will also support 27 days of consistent quality food, housing, and education for a family in countries like Haiti and Honduras.
