UTA student-athletes score big in the classroom
The University of Texas at Arlington’s student-athletes are impressing in the classroom, with four programs posting perfect scores in the NCAA’s Academic Progress Rate (APR) multi-year report.
Women’s tennis, men’s tennis, women’s golf and women’s volleyball all achieved perfect scores of 1,000 in the report, which spans four years. Six more programs recorded scores above 970, including softball (985), baseball (976), men’s cross country (975), men’s track and field (973), women’s cross country (973) and men’s golf (971).

"Our student-athletes have done a great job of competing and excelling in the classroom," UTA Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Jon Fagg said. "Academic success is the foundation which that leads to championship outcomes, and they continue to solidify that core for future accomplishments. We congratulate our student-athletes and thank our support staff and coaches for their efforts in achieving another Team UTA win."
The NCAA implemented the APR in 2003 to hold institutions accountable for the academic progress of their student-athletes through a team-based metric that accounts for the eligibility and retention of each student-athlete each semester.
