Spring 2026 Student Commuter Parking Zones โ Preview & Updates
Tuesday, October 28, 2025
Beginning Spring 2026, UTA will resume the Student Commuter Parking Zone system to help reduce congestion, improve parking availability near classrooms, and make it easier for students to park where it makes the most sense for their schedule.
Please note: This program is expected to remain in effect for the first 4 to 6 weeks of the semester. PATS will evaluate its impact and may lift zone restrictions afterward based on real-time parking demand and availability.
how it works:
When purchasing your Spring 2026 student commuter permit(available starting 11/24), you’ll be asked to choose a zone:
-
South Zone – Lots 49, 50, 51, 52, 53, and 45
(Capacity: 7,100 permits) -
East Zone – College Park Garages and Lot 36 (Student Commuter section only)
(Capacity: 1,935 permits) - West Zone – West Campus Garage, Lots 30 and 34, University Village, and Arbor Oaks (General row in back of lots only)
(Capacity: 1,935 permits)
Annual Permit Holders: You Can Switch!
If you already have an annual student commuter permit, there's no need to purchase a new one. Simply log in to MavPark to update your zone for Spring 2026, if needed. If no changes are made, your current zone from Fall 2025 will remain in effect.
To submit your location change request, go to your active permit and select View>>Change Location>>Select new location.
If you're happy with your current zone, you don’t have to do anything — it’ll default to the same one you have now.
Zone Hours Explained
-
7:00 AM – 1:00 PM (Monday–Friday): Park in your assigned zone only
-
1:00 PM – 7:00 AM: You may park in any student commuter lot
-
7:00 PM – 7:00 AM: All permits are valid in student commuter lots
Why Zones?
Zone parking isn't just about structure—it's about strategy:
-
Less lot circling = less frustration
-
Smarter location choices = shorter walks to class
-
Capped permits per zone = fewer full-lot surprises
Duration Reminder: Zone restrictions will only apply during this initial evaluation period. We’ll notify all permit holders when restrictions are lifted later in the semester.
Important Dates
-
Nov. 3, 2025 – Spring class registration begins
-
Nov. 24, 2025 – Spring permits & zone selection available in MavPark
-
Jan. 12, 2026 – First day of Spring classes
- Jan. 28, 2026 – Census date
This system works best when students choose the zone closest to where they have the most classes, so you spend less time parking and more time on what you are here to do.
Zone changes are first-come, first-served and some zones will fill up quickly—especially South and West—so plan early!
