BSW Licensure Statement:

Graduates from our Council on Social Work Education’s (CSWE) Accredited BSW program are eligible to apply for social work licensure in U.S. states/territories and Canadian provinces that license social work professionals at the bachelor level. Our curriculum, through its compliance with CSWE’s Educational Policies and Accreditation Standards (EPAS), encompasses the content included in the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB) Bachelor’s level licensure exam. This exam is accepted in U.S. states/territories and Canadian provinces that have bachelor level licensure. Certain locales may have additional requirements; for information on which states, territories and provinces license at the bachelor level as well as additional requirements where relevant, visit ASWB.

BSSUT Licensure Statement:

Upon graduating from UTA’s School of Social Work with a BSSUT degree,
  • I will be eligible to apply for Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor-Intern (LCDCi) licensure in the state of Texas.
  • The pathway to the full LCDC license includes additional work hours or graduate level education.
  • Licensing and/or certification standards for substance use disorder treatment professionals varies between states. I understand that it is my responsibility to ascertain what said requirements are for the state where I plan to work.
  • MSW Licensure Statement:

    Graduates from our Council on Social Work Education’s (CSWE) Accredited MSW program are eligible to apply for social work licensure in all 50 states, Washington, D.C., the U.S. Virgin Islands, and the Canadian provinces of Alberta, British Columbia, and Manitoba. Our curriculum, through its compliance with CSWE’s Educational Policies and Accreditation Standards (EPAS), encompasses the content included in the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB) three categories of Master’s level licensure exams. These exams are accepted in all 50 U.S. states; Washington, D.C.; the U.S. Virgin Islands; and the provinces of Alberta, British Columbia and Manitoba in Canada. Certain locales may have additional requirements; this information is available from ASWB.
