If you are a new incoming student for the Fall 2026 semester, advising will open on May 1, 2026.

Here is where you will find your academic advisor plus so much more to help you with being successful during your journey in the University of Texas at Arlington’s School of Social Work. So, whether you are a BSW, BSW-Intended, or an MSW current or newly admitted student, the following information may be for you.

Academic Advising Appointment Availability

All current UTA School of Social Work, undergraduate and graduate students, may schedule advising appointments through UTA's MavInspire Student Appointment Booking system. Detailed instructions regarding how to schedule appointments through MavInspire can be found here.

Same Day Appointment

Have quick questions, time sensitive needs, and last-minute schedule changes? Schedule a same-day appointment, either in-person, through MS Teams or by phone, on Wednesdays.

Same-Day, Drop-In Appointments

  • 20-minute sessions
  • Sign-ups begin at 8:30am and are available on a first-come, first-served basis
  • Check-in at the Front Desk in SWSH 131, or call 817-272-3687 to schedule an appointment

Peak Period Advising

In addition to our regularly scheduled Same Day Appointments, we are now offering additional days for appointment scheduling.

Peak Period Advising provides additional, high‑demand advising availability during busy registration times to ensure students receive timely support when they need it most.

The scheduling link opens at 8:30am. Appointments are available from 9:00am to 4:00pm and are offered on a first-come, first-served basis.

We are offering group advising sessions that are for our Current MSW Students ONLY. Group advising helps you get answers faster, hear questions you didn’t think to ask, and connect with peers on the same path. These sessions will take place via Teams on the following dates:
