The Anthem of Maverick Spirit

UTA’s New Fight Song

Department of Music faculty and songwriting students rewrote UTA's fight song as part of the University's 130th anniversary celebration.

A Legacy in Every Note

This mini documentary shows how songwriting students brought the new fight song to life and the hard work the Maverick Marching Band put into practicing it.

Every artist hopes to create something that will live on in history. During this milestone year of our 130th anniversary, that is exactly what our students achieved, writing lyrics that captured the pride of UTA for current and future generations of Mavericks. This project also carries the spirit and influence of Dr.Stotter. His legacy lives on in this fight song — his final arrangement, a gift to our University.

The Fight Song's Debut

The UTA Marching Band performed the new fight song for the first time at MavsMeet Kickoff 2025, a Maverick Stampede tradition that welcomes students to the beginning of a new academic year.

Where Collaboration Meets Creativity

For a podcast episode about UTA traditions, Faith Chipps and Kameryn McGlothlin talked about their roles in helping rewrite the fight song, the creative process for developing the rhythm and the lyrics, and how it felt to contribute to a song that will be a cornerstone of spirited UTA occasions for years to come.
