DEGREE OVERVIEW

The CLIS-BA program is designed to meet the needs of students who prepare for careers in global affairs and international business, emphasizing languages and cultures of critical significance in Texas and the United States, as well as in international economic and geopolitical arenas.


ABOUT THE PROGRAM

Featuring concentrations in Chinese, German, Korean, and Russian, the CLIS-BA program promotes global competence through the study of the language, literature, culture, history, and the political and business climate of the area. The CLIS program also offers minors in those four languages and in Arabic. A 120-hour curriculum leads to a Bachelor of Arts in Critical Languages and International Studies. Major requirements:

  • UTA's general core
  • UNIV 1101 or UNIV 1131
  • GLOBAL 2301
  • 15 advanced hours in the chosen language
  • 12 hours in international studies from the three categories: International Issues (Business, Ethics, and Sustainability), Humanities (Culture, History, and Literature), and Socio-Cultural Perspectives (Social, Political, and Cultural Studies)
  • General elective hours will be used to complete the total hours required for the degree.
