Undergraduate diversity among national universities
U.S. News & World Report
Greetings, and thank you for visiting the web home of the College of Liberal Arts (CoLA) at the University of Texas at Arlington! Our college is one of the largest at UTA, covering a span of disciplines and programs in three main areas – Fine and Performing Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences – that traditionally have fallen under the “Liberal Arts” umbrella. Each of these areas, and the departments and programs within, are exciting hot beds of academic and professional activity. Students work with world renown faculty on a daily basis, contributing to cutting edge research, impactful creative activity, and the creation and dissemination of new knowledge and understanding to the world around us.
CoLA is also the home of many “core” curriculum courses that every student pursuing an undergraduate degree must take. As the name implies, these core courses are the heart of every undergraduate degree, enabling students to apply critical thinking and synthesis, essential communication skills, and the understanding of humanity and culture to whatever major they choose. These skills are in exceptionally high demand outside academia and rank in the top skills employers look for when hiring new employees.
Students in our CoLA programs have a wide variety of majors, minors, and certificates to choose from. Many of our students pair more than one together to create a unique course of study that sets them up to launch into the world after graduation. Please take some time to review our course offerings and reach out should you have any questions.
Go Mavs!
