DEGREE OVERVIEW

Majoring in English prepares students to navigate our world of words. Our curriculum allows students to pursue their interests in literature, language, creative writing, technical and professional writing, and rhetoric. Our internship program offers students opportunities to gain professional experience while using the skills they learned and developed through their studies.


ABOUT THE PROGRAM

The BA program explores written works dating from the roots of the English language to the present. Taking a diverse range of courses taught by award-winning faculty recognized for excellent teaching and research, English majors learn and develop the skills necessary to be:

Requires 120 hours, with the first two years (approximately 60 hours) focusing on the university core and introductory courses, and the final two years (the remaining hours) concentrating on advanced courses in the major, the minor, and electives.
