DEGREE OVERVIEW

The Bachelor of Science in physics degree is recommended for those students desiring to persue science and technology careers, attend medical school, pursue a minor or double major in an engineering discipline, teach physics at the middle or high schools levels, or pursue advanced gradute study and research at the master's or doctoral levels.


ABOUT THE PROGRAM

The undergraduate physics program can be completed within four years and offere many flavors of physics major, such as Bachelor of Science in physics, physics with engineering emphasis, physics with medical school preparation, and Bachelor of Arts in physics. It prepares the students for careers in science and technology or medical school, and when combined with certification through UTeach it prepares students for middle school or high school teaching careers.

Bachelor of Science (BS) in Physics

The Bachelor of Science degree programs include one which prepares students for careers in science and technology, another for medical school preparation, and a third for students wanting to minor in an engineering discipline. When combined with the required UTeach education courses, the Bachelor of Science program is also appropriate for students who are interested in becoming schoolteachers.*

* Students desiring certification for teaching at the secondary level must fulfill specific requirements for the appropriate Physics B.S. Teacher Certification degree.
