ARLINGTON, Texas --Shunkecia Lewis, a 2014 public relations graduate, assumed the office of second vice president of the Arlington chapter of the NAACP on January and has been accepted into the NAACP Next Generation Young Professional Leadership Training Program.

This is a leadership program for NAACP members between the ages of 21 and 35, so they can assume NAACP leadership roles.

She was nominated into the program by Arlington NAACP President Alisa Simmons.

“If more young people saw that they can take leadership roles in the oldest, boldest coldest civil rights organization in America. I believe it will bring a younger wave to the NAACP,” Lewis said.

Lewis currently works at DexYP as a digital web consultant where she helps small and medium-sized businesses thrive using an app created by the company. Her job includes assisting with, coordinating and fulfilling digital products for local businesses.
