The Department of History is thrilled to announce that doctoral alumna, Gina G. Bennett, Ph.d. (2020) has accepted a tenure-track position as Assistant Professor of Global History at Coker University, a private Liberal Arts university in Hartsville, South Carolina. This accomplishment follows her service as a limited-term professor at Kennesaw State University in Kennesaw, Georgia and a year as an ad-interim instructor at Texas A&M-Commerce.

Dr. Bennett notes that she is very excited about her new appointment as Coker University’s location in South Carolina will allow her access to archives associated with her research (a chapter in an edited collection with State University of New York – New Paltz is forthcoming!). Dr. Bennett is especially thankful for the support that she received as a graduate student at the University of Texas at Arlington in the Department of History, with special thanks to her dissertation chair Dr. Kenyon Zimmer, Dr. Stephanie Cole, and Dr. Christopher Morris; and thanks to Professor Steve Murdoch, formerly of the University of St. Andrews in Scotland and now a professor of Military History at the Swedish Defense University in Stockholm.

Congratulations to Dr. Gina Bennett!
