Greetings for the last time of 2021!!

Key opportunities in this letter are some pretty great scholarships as well as new opportunities to begin preparing for the LSAT this coming spring.  All Juniors should pay special attention to these as the time for taking the LSAT is approaching and will soon arrive. Don’t forget to reach out if you have any questions about LLS minor courses, events, scholarships, internships or general law school advising assistance!

    It’s time to get ready for graduation!  Whether you’re attending commencement live or virtually, you don’t want to miss the chance to get your Pre-Law graduation cords or your Law and Legal Studies Minor cords for those completing the program.

    The international law firm of Sidley Austin LLP is proud to announce we are now accepting applications for the 2022-2023 Sidley Prelaw Scholars Program. Students can apply using this application link through January 14, 2022The Sidley Prelaw Scholars Program is targeted at students of diverse backgrounds who are planning to matriculate to law school in the fall of 2023.

    Why Apply?

    • Scholars will receive up to $2,500 to fund the LSAT, LSDAS credentialing, tuition in a commercial LSAT preparation course and reimbursement for application and CAS fees for up to seven law schools.
    • The summer before beginning law school, Scholars will be treated to the Sidley Scholars Summer Seminar, a multi-day instructional program on how to succeed in law school, as well as an opportunity to meet Sidley lawyers and other leaders in the legal community.
    • Scholars may also be eligible for an additional $3,500 law school scholarship following successful completion of the program!!

  • Register Now for this Virtual UT Law Event

    Texas Law Pipeline Program - Admissions Boot Camp

    Boot Camp is a one-day in-person workshop aimed at preparing college juniors, seniors, and recent graduates for the law school admissions process.

    Workshop topics will include:
    • The law school admissions timeline
    • Financing law school
    • LSAT preparation, and
    • Resources for application support.

    Participants will also participate in a networking lunch with members of the Texas Law community.

    Date and Location: January 22, 2022, at The University of Texas School of Law, Austin, TX

    Registration and Agenda: Boot Camp registration will open at 1:30 pm on Tuesday, December 7, 2021 (updated). Once registration opens, please visit this event page for the program schedule and registration link.

    LSAC’s Still Primarily Virtual for Spring 2022

    For the 2021-2022 Admissions cycle, LSAC will host most of its Forums digitally so that any and all students can have access to critical resources and information.

    Why attend? 

    This is the nation’s largest law school fair and ALL law schools will be participating!  This is your opportunity to hear from admissions and recruiters at your dream schools.  LSAC will host a workshop for students preparing to take the LSAT where you will have the opportunity to hear directly from the test writers on how to excel on various aspects of the test.  You’ll also have the chance to participate in personal statement workshops and much more!

    Students new to UTA or new the pursuit of a legal career will find benefit in socializing with other students pursuing the same goals!  This year, the officers are working to bring you a virtual semester of speakers, socials, community service events and the PLS LSAT Prep Study Group hosted by Ascent Test Prep co-founder and instructor Chris Nguyen.

    Women in Law is meeting and looking for new members!  This organization is open to all majors and seeks to provide resources to advance women’s interest in the legal world.     For over fifty years, the National Black Law Students Association has worked to develop culturally responsible Black and minority law students that excel academically, succeed professionally, and positively impact the community. NBLSA members are activists, thought leaders, and strategic thinkers. NBLSA alumni are partners, general counsel, judges, non-profit executives, and business operatives. Students are seeking to create a UTA Pre-Law Chapter of NBLSA.

Students will be able to purchase their voucher through the New Pre-Law Center online marketplace opening soon.  The Voucher gives you the ability to take an LSAT Fundamentals prep course with the schedule of your choosing.  You will then have access to 10 3-hour lectures from a live instructor who will be ready to take your questions and help you produce the best score possible!  You will also have access to various Videos on Demand, practice tests, as well as 4 proctored LSAT exams ahead of the official test you will be taking.  PLUS LSAC’s LSAT Prep Plus will be included in your package completely free!

Through proven strategies, their tutoring team has guided students to improve their official LSAT scores substantially.  The October 2021 LSAT saw 5 students with scores in the 170s. and November saw another student score a 175!  See the attached flyer for more information!
