General Service Needs
Alzheimer’s Awareness Campaign: Student(s) will develop and implement a campaign to increase awareness about Alzheimer's and dementia and the Alzheimer’s Association as the leading voluntary health organization in Alzheimer's care, support and research

Volunteer Recruitment Campaign: Student(s) will develop and implement a campaign to recruit volunteers to deliver Alzheimer’s Association programs and services in the Tarrant County area

Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Outreach Campaign: Student(s) will develop and implement a campaign to reach families with programs and services and impact communities through our diversity and inclusion initiatives of the Alzheimer's Association

Advocacy: Student(s) will perform a wide variety of tasks and are assigned roles that match their skills, availability and preferences including contacting elected officials, organizing events, and engaging online, through local media and committees

American Cancer Society provides support services to patients in need. The program title which encompasses all of the resources is the Cancer Resource Network. The Cancer Resource Network provides valuable information, services and referrals to community resources at a time when patients, family members and caregivers need it the most. We strive to provide high-quality, timely, understandable information on cancer, and to empower people facing cancer to better cope with the disease and to be able to maintain the highest possible quality of life. The Network also focuses on lessening the unequal cancer burden faced by certain populations considered medically underserved.

The American Cancer Society offers several different avenues for connecting patients, families and caregivers with the right tools they need to make their experience with cancer less detrimental to their lives. Through a variety of offerings, we are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week to provide answers to questions related to cancer.

Blood Donor Ambassador - Provide excellent and enthusiastic customer service to enhance the blood donor experience.

Community Events Team Member - Represents the American Red Cross at recruitment events throughout the community, with the goal of engaging individuals in the organization’s mission and ultimately recruiting new volunteers.

Disaster Action Team (DAT) Member - Participates in all DAT program support and capacity building activities necessary to ensure effective service delivery during a DAT response.

Home Fire Campaign Team Member - Save lives and prevent injury by participating in Sound the Alarm events, installing life-saving smoke alarms into homes.

Recovery Team Member - Support the disaster recovery of individuals, families, and communities through the activities of Casework and Recovery Planning, Recovery Systems and Community Recovery.

Volunteer Recruitment Team Lead - Support the implementation of local recruitment strategy by building a network with local organizations and community groups.

Hero Care Regional Caseworker/Family Contact - Supports military families to ensure family information is in the case management system, email and phone military families to provide Red Cross preparedness information and provide additional support, as appropriate.

Arlington Charities leads and engages the community in the fight against hunger and poverty. We provide more food to the community than any other food pantry in Arlington. In addition, we provide free clothing, a monthly mobile food pantry, holiday food baskets, Christmas toys, lunches to the homeless MWF, and information referral services.

General Service Needs

- Quality assurance to ensure high-quality product distribution.

- Packing and distributing client orders.

- Assisting at drive-thru pantries held three times a month.

Facility is open Monday through Thursday from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

The Goodtimes Chorus is a Men’s a cappella Chorus. We’ve been around since 1962, spreading four part harmony and good times in the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex. We welcome men who would like to sing. It is not necessary to have a wonderful voice (although that would be nice) or to have years of choral experience. You should be enthusiastic and able to carry a tune. No training is required.

The Chorus meets every Tuesday from 7:00 p.m. until 10 p.m. Epworth United Methodist Church, 1400 S. Cooper (behind the Starbucks). VISITORS ARE ALWAYS WELCOME!

We need students to assist us in all non-singing aspects of our musical productions, including advertising graphics stage manager, sound system operation, video and audio recording, ushers, script writing, prop and scenery development, etc.

We could use an assistant to help us with choreography, website design, and public relations.

The Arlington Life Shelter provides, shelter, meals and rehabilitative services for homeless men, women and families. The program emphasis is assisting clients to become self-sufficient through case management services, structured employment programs, and mandatory classes four days per week focusing on life and job skills. Volunteer training required.

Arlington Life Shelter is always looking for great volunteers.  We have opportunities for individuals and small groups (5-10).  Learn more on our website.

We are the Arlington Public Library and we serve the community in a variety of ways from reading to children and teaching computer classes, to delivering books to the elderly in retirement homes.

General Service Needs
We need literacy tutors for Adult Basic Literacy, ESL and GED. Reading Corps needs volunteers to read to children at specific locations. We also need volunteers to help with computer classes or as a computer concierge within the library buildings.

Serving more than 1.5 million people a year, Arlington Public Library holds more than 600,000 items, from books, audiobooks, eBooks, and DVDs, to digital photo collections, genealogy resources, and grant funded kits for parents and teachers. In the always expanding digital realm, we provide people with powerful online resources. Online visitors can browse our collections, download eBooks, and view more than 100 digital resources through Metroplex Online Resources, or MOReLibrary, a partnership with the cities of Grand Prairie, Kennedale, and Mansfield.

General Needs
We have created a makerspace in the new Downtown branch library. The makerspace includes 3D printers, vinyl cutters, laser cutters, screen printing, etc.
We are looking to form partnerships with students interested in interning/volunteering in the makerspace, either helping with general open hours, running classes, helping with training materials and certifications, etc. The possibilities are really limitless and we are open to creative ideas!

Tasks Available for UTA Students
Staffing the makerspace during "open lab" hours - monitoring equipment, helping patrons troubleshoot or set up machines, maintaining the equipment, walking patrons through the training process.

Teaching classes geared toward the makerspace - basic 3D printing, how to create your own 3D designs, basic vinyl cutting, etc.

Helping to create training materials - brochures explaining the makerspace rules, creating step by step projects that patrons can follow on their own, creating video tutorials, etc.

Arlington Reads is a multi-faced literacy program that meets the literacy needs of multiple groups of people, from adult learners to children. Arlington Reads provides literacy help for students between pre-K4 through 3rd grade and programming for adult learners that need adult basic education (ABE), English as a second language (ESL), and general education development (GED) services. Those interested in volunteering as a tutor with Arlington Reads will need to do a background check with the city of Arlington, and complete a training session with an Arlington Reads staff member. Volunteer times are flexible and there are multiple volunteer opportunities within Arlington Reads. Additional information can be found at our website, www.ArlingtonReads.org.

Students can volunteer with our youth, adult, or family services. Students will be taught in a large group by an employee of the organization before teaching an individual student or class.

Arlington Urban Ministries (AUM) provides emergency financial assistance to Arlington's families in crisis. We make direct payments to landlords, utility providers, and pharmacies on behalf of families we serve. Additionally, we maintain a community food pantry and clothing closet to provide families and homeless people with 1-2 days worth of food/clothing. We also maintain relationships with an extensive list of aid agencies in Arlington to refer families to whom require assistance beyond what AUM can provide.

Tasks Available for UTA Students
We have a Resale Store called "Nu2U" which provides most of the funds for our non-profit (located 2220 Park Row Pantego, TX). They are always looking for bright volunteers to help organize, clean, and etc. at the store.

The first Wednesday of each month we have a Mobile Food Pantry with the Tarrant Food Bank, so strong and hard working volunteers are welcome!

We have other ways we help in the community including seasonal assistance.
