What is a QEP?

Accreditation

As part of the University’s decennial reaffirmation of accreditation process by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC), UT Arlington has historically been required to develop a Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP) every 10 years. The QEP is grounded in the University’s ongoing comprehensive planning and evaluation processes and affirms its commitment to enhance overall institutional quality and effectiveness while advancing its Mission, Vision, and Values.

With a formal charge to the QEP Committee from the Provost and Senior Vice President of Academic Affairs, Dr. Tamara Brown, the UTA’s QEP 2027 Project launched in July 2025. Through broad input and support from the UTA community, the Committee explored potential initiatives to improve student learning outcomes and/or student success. In September 2025, SACSCOC announced a study of the QEP Standard 7.2, beginning in October 2025 and expected to last 14-18 months. Institutions undergoing a comprehensive review (such as reaffirmation or Fifth-Year review) during this study period will not be held accountable for the QEP requirement, either now or during their next scheduled review.
