College of Business’ master of quantitative finance earns top mark

TFE Times has ranked UTA’s College of Business master of quantitative finance degree as one of the best financial engineering degrees in the country recently.

TFE Times ranked the College of Business' master of quantitative finance degree as one of the tops in the country.

“Our graduate degree in quantitative finance has a strong corps of faculty that uses the latest methods to teach our students in this boutique program,” said Chandra Subramaniam, interim dean of the UTA College of Business. “The word is out that UTA’s quantitative finance degree is one of the more prestigious degrees in the region.”

Harry Dombroski, senior vice president at Hunt Consolidated and chair of the College of Business Advisory Board, said, “The accolade is one more feather in the College of Business’ cap. The ranking will help fuel recruitment efforts of the best and brightest students.”

TFE Times evaluates six components on a weighted scale, including:

  • Mean Graduate Record Examinations/Graduate Management Admission Test scores, 30 percent;
  • Mean starting salary and bonus, 25 percent;
  • Mean undergraduate GPA, 15 percent;
  • Acceptance rate, 15 percent;
  • Fulltime graduates employed at graduation, 10 percent;
  • Fulltime graduates employed three months after graduation, 5 percent.

In addition to the TFE Times ranking, CEO Magazine recently ranked UTA’s College of Business Executive MBA program No. 1 in Texas, No. 16 in the United States and No. 21 among Global MBA programs.

The college has garnered many other accolades and awards, including:

  • The part-time MBA program is ranked No. 122 on U.S. News & World Report’s 2018 “Best Graduate Schools” list.
  • The college is ranked among the top 50 best business schools for veterans in the United States, according to 2016 rankings by Military Times.
  • Military Times ranked the College among the top 50 business schools for veterans in 2016.
  • The 2016 U.S. News & World Report Best Colleges list ranks the College of Business 131st among 472 undergraduate business programs accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business.
  • Accounting Degree Review ranked UTA’s residential bachelor’s degree in accounting as the nation’s 22nd most affordable in 2016.
  • The Master of Science in Taxation program ranked No. 10 in the nation by TaxTalent.com for 2016.
