Both the College of Engineering and the part-time MBA program in the College of Business moved up at least 10 spots in the 2023-24 U.S. News & World Report Best Graduate Schools rankings, the latest sign of academic excellence at The University of Texas at Arlington.

UT Arlington’s overall graduate degree rankings in engineering improved 10 spots to No. 69 nationally. Mechanical engineering realized the largest gain among individual programs, with a 10-spot increase to No. 89 nationwide. UTA’s computer engineering ranking rose eight spots to No. 71.

Peter Crouch, dean of the College of Engineering, said this honor comes at a special time in the history of UTA’s Computer Science and Engineering Department.

“We are bursting at the seams with students,” Crouch said. “Computer science is the largest department in the college. The need for programmers and data engineers will continue to increase exponentially. UTA plays an important role in filling the needs of the workforce.”

The College of Business’ part-time MBA ranked No. 56 in the nation, an improvement of 13 spots.

Harry Dombroski, dean of the College of Business, said the increase in ranking of its part-time MBA program reflects the overall high quality of the program.

“The part-time MBA is attractive to professional people as it allows them to add valuable and marketable skills while still in the workforce,” Dombroski said. “The program’s better ranking reflects its value as well as the quality of our students. We look forward to the continued growth and success of this program.”

Crouch and Dombroski also attributed the increase in rankings to the outstanding faculty at UT Arlington.

“Our faculty are first-rate and adhere to the industry standards that equip students once they hit the job market,” Crouch said.

“Our MBA faculty possess years of teaching experience from varied backgrounds, which results in a unique classroom experience anchored in the real-world challenges that students will face in their careers,” Dombroski said.

In addition, the master’s program in the College of Nursing and Health Innovation ranked No. 54 nationally in the magazine’s annual rankings. UTA’s computer science ranking rose six spots to No. 83.
