UTA named a Top Yellow Ribbon School
The University of Texas at Arlington has once again received national recognition for its dedication to military veterans and their families, being named a Top Yellow Ribbon School by U.S. Veterans Magazine.
The magazine announced UT Arlington as a recipient on Tuesday.
“Recognition as a Top Yellow Ribbon School further validates UTA's commitment to ensuring veterans and military-connected students have the resources, support and community they need to succeed,” said Edward King Sr., director of Military and Veteran Services. “At UTA, we aim to stand with our students every step of the way—from transition to graduation and beyond—empowering them to turn their military training, leadership and service into educational success.”
UTA is home to more than 5,500 military-connected students, providing resources and programs tailored to their unique needs. The office supports several initiatives like Veteran’s Edge, a peer-mentoring program launched in 2021 that helps new students transition to university life with guidance from senior-level military-connected peers.

Oriana Holden has become a peer mentor in the Veteran’s Edge program, and described the benefits that programs of this nature have on fellow classmates.
“Having an office like Military and Veteran Services is crucial for the military population. Some veterans transition out of service still very accustomed to military structure and being told where to be, what to do and where to go,” said Holden, a social work major. “MVS does a great job helping bridge that transition by showing student veterans how to navigate a more independent civilian and academic environment.”
