#MeToo series article

James Campbell Quick, Distinguished University Professor and John and Judy Goolsby-Jacqualyn A. Fouse Endowed Chair in UTA's Goolsby Leadership Academy, and Ann McFadyen, associate professor of strategic management in the College of Business, co-authored an article for Harvard Business Review as part of the publication’s “Managing #MeToo” series. The article by Quick and McFadyen presents a three-stage approach to preventing sexual harassment in the workplace and offers suggestions for companies about how and when to intervene.

Super Bowl ad class

Students in UTA associate marketing professor Traci Freling’s class spent Super Bowl Sunday paying as much attention to the commercials as the game, The Dallas Morning News reported. Freling last week showed her students several blockbuster ads from previous years and then instructed them to closely watch Sunday’s ads. This week, they will discuss which ads they felt were most and least effective.

REHEAL glove

Manufacturing of the REHEAL glove is moving closer to reality, according to Dallas Innovates. The glove was developed by UTA’s Research Institute. Muthu Wijesundara, UTARI's chief research scientist, received a grant from the Medical Technology Enterprise Consortium to help with commercialization of the glove.

Classroom technology

Stephanie Cole, an associate professor of history in UTA’s College of Liberal Arts, uses technology during her lectures to increase engagement and identify students who are struggling and not participating, according to Inside Higher Ed. The story focuses on the Echo360 technology, which allows students to give real time feedback to professors.

Point guard enters record book

Erick Neal became the first player in Sun Belt Conference history to surpass 1,300 points, 700 assists, 400 rebounds and 200 steals during Saturday’s victory over Coastal Carolina, Fox Sports and the Austin American-Statesman reported. Davion Turner scored a career-high 20 points and Johnny Hamilton had his fifth double-double of the year. The Lady Mavericks also defeated Coastal Carolina on Saturday, thanks in large part to senior Shelby Richards’s career-high 20 points.
