Germany collaboration
A city of Arlington contingent visited Rothenburg recently to talk about mutual business and education opportunities, Germany's Nordbayern.com reported. Rothenburg officials expressed interest in establishing partnerships with UTA.
U.S. News ranking
U.S. News and World Report’s university rankings placed UTA’s Computer Science and Engineering program at No. 91 nationally, China’s Sohu.com reported.
Alumnus celebrates birthday
Sajeeb Wazed Joy, the only son of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and the eldest grandson of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, celebrated his 48th birthday, Dhaka, Bangladesh’s Daily Sun reported. Joy earned his bachelor’s degree in computer science and engineering from UTA.
Counsel finalist
Shelby Boseman, UTA’s university attorney, was named a finalist in D CEO’s 2018 Corporate Counsel Award, D Magazine reported.
Alumnus named exec VP
Lynden Tennison has been named executive vice president and chief strategy officer for Union Pacific, GuruFocus.com and Railway Age reported. Tennison earned his bachelor's degree from UTA.
Alumna named CFO
Sarah Hagan has been named chief financial officer for ECi Software Solutions, WICZ Fox 40 in Binghamton, N.Y., Business Wire and several other media reported. Hagan received her MBA at UTA.
NCAA award
The NCAA has awarded UTA a $120,000 an Accelerating Academic Success Program Comprehensive Grants to support the schools’ efforts to meet the requirements of the Division I Academic Performance Program, which was developed to ensure schools provide an environment that supports education while enhancing the ability of student-athletes to earn a degree, HBCU Sports reported.
